Roof York aims to complete all roofing work using appropriate materials, recognised installation practices and good standards of workmanship.

Any project-specific workmanship guarantee, manufacturer’s warranty or other warranty applicable to your works will be identified within the quotation, specification or completion information provided for that project.

Different types of roofing work carry different warranty arrangements. Minor repairs, maintenance work and isolated patch repairs should not be assumed to carry the same warranty as a complete roof replacement unless expressly confirmed in writing.

Before work begins, clients should ensure that reasonable access is available to the work area and tell us about anything that could affect the safe or efficient delivery of the project.

This may include:

• Restricted vehicle or pedestrian access
• Satellite dishes, aerials or external equipment
• Conservatories, glazed roofs or sensitive surfaces
• Pets or occupied external areas
• Known asbestos-containing materials
• Overhead cables or other services
• Neighbouring access restrictions

Where scaffolding, powered access or other access arrangements form part of our quotation, these will normally be identified separately within the project documentation.

We aim to deliver roofing projects safely, efficiently and with clear communication throughout.

Our team will:

• Attend the property in accordance with the agreed programme wherever reasonably possible
• Carry out the agreed roofing works professionally
• Take reasonable steps to protect the property and surrounding areas
• Keep disruption proportionate to the works being undertaken
• Maintain a safe working area
• Remove our waste and leave the work area reasonably clean following completion

Roofing work is particularly dependent upon weather conditions. Programmes may therefore need to change where conditions make roofing work unsafe or inappropriate.

Clear communication is important to the successful delivery of any roofing project.

Requests for alterations, additional work or changes to the agreed scope should be made through the Roof York office or the nominated company representative rather than directly to individual operatives.

This ensures that the implications for price, materials, programme and responsibility can be properly considered and recorded.

Roof York recognises that roofing is a high-risk construction activity and that proper planning, competent workmanship and suitable access arrangements are essential.

Our approach includes:

• Identifying significant site-specific hazards
• Providing suitable access and fall protection where required

• Providing project-specific risk assessments and method statements where appropriate

Health and safety arrangements will be proportionate to the nature, scale and complexity of each project.

Clients also have an important role in enabling roofing works to be completed safely and efficiently.

We ask clients to:

• Provide reasonable access to the property and work areas
• Tell us about known hazards or unusual site conditions
• Protect or relocate valuable or vulnerable items where requested
• Ensure children and pets remain clear of active work areas
• Provide relevant information concerning asbestos or other hazardous materials where known
• Obtain planning permission, listed building consent or other property-specific approvals where these are the client’s responsibility
• Nominate someone able to make decisions concerning variations or additional works
• Make payments in accordance with the agreed payment terms

Certain roofing projects may be subject to Building Regulations, planning requirements, conservation area controls or Listed Building Consent.

The requirements vary according to the property and the nature of the work being undertaken.

Where our quotation includes responsibility for a specific approval, notification or certification process, this will be identified within the quotation or project documentation.

Unless expressly included within our scope, property-specific planning and heritage permissions remain the responsibility of the property owner or client.
